Egyptian amethyst necklace with bird pendant

Provenance: Private collection (Mr G.M.), Scotland, acquired late 1970s
A necklace composed of 31 graduated convex biconical and spherical amethyst beads, a pair of banded agate beads and amethyst amulet of a falcon. The central section of alternating spherical and biconical beads changing to only rounded biconical beads near the ends. The amulet, pierced longitudinally at the neck, with incised details. A tubular agate bead either side of the bird, the natural banding of the stone used to great effect. The amethyst stones vary in colour from a pale lavender colour to a deep purple.
Condition: Restrung, with a modern silver clasp.
